I've house-sitted before; you might eat an extra banana or lie on the couch for more time than you're supposed to. It's normal; we are enjoying a space we don't know. We like it there; it's fun to have someone else's house all to yourself, but if you get caught doing that, you should at least try to be apologetic. After all, you're doing something wrong!

Acting entitled is not your best bet in situations like this. You might as well pick up your stuff, say sorry, explain yourself in the most earnest, vulnerable way, and hope the other person understands and is open to forgiving you.

Everything is worse if you bring someone else, because you not only breach trust, but also bring a stranger into someone else's private life. Being humiliated in front of her boyfriend is the last thing she should worry about. If she thought being exposed for what she actually did was humiliating, then that's information. Consequences are bad sometimes! And it's pretty clear when someone is not used to having them for anything they've done.

It's probably going to be ugly for her for a little while, but if I were her sister, I would let her sit with that feeling because it's teaching her a valuable lesson. If she isn't mature enough, she will blame it all on her sister and her perceived 'authoritarianism '; but if she gives herself time and space to reflect, she'll probably reach the conclusion that she shouldn't breach other people's trust and that her actions cause reactions.

It's the rule of life! Sometimes we feel humiliated, and it's our own fault. I know a house isn't the most important thing in a relationship, but this house seems important to the sister who went on a trip, and the other should respect that. There is no excuse.
